"Moments of potential observation are sometimes relinquished as my sustained attention is given to an existing work. Rather than treating this as a loss, my studio process becomes a site of emergence, where new ideas are generated through sustained looking and reflection. Close observation in the garden helps inform this development. A deteriorating red clover, painted alongside the pared-back structure of dandelion stems, become a means of exploring transience and restraint, revealing a quiet vitality within forms that are frequently overlooked."
